Geometric Self-Portrait Art Project
This is a funky way to do self-portraits at the beginning of the year! No prep and you end up with such a bright and vibrant bulletin board.
Time required: 40-60 minutes (will depend how much detail they put into it)
Materials:
White or cream paper (I used card stock)
Pencil & eraser
Ruler
Sharpie
Colouring tool (we used oil pastel, but you could also use crayons, pencil crayons, markers or paint)
Steps:
Draw a simple portrait of yourself in the middle of the page. Don’t make it too complicated, there are going to be a lot of lines by the time we’re done.
Using a ruler, draw some lines across your page. They can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Remember, less is more!
Trace all of your pencil lines with a Sharpie (portrait and lines).
Add colour to your piece with markers, pencil crayons, crayons, pastel or paint.
You’ll notice from my whiteboard example that I model how to colour in each section.
You can use the same colour multiple times, but avoid side by side.
