Write to the Canadian Armed Forces & Veterans - Remembrance Day & Holiday letters
Every holiday season, my class writes letters to the Canadian Armed Forces. We aim to spread a little holiday cheer and share our thanks for their service, no matter what their role. With so many members away from their families, we want to do what we can to show our appreciation and support.
My examples are in English, but you can also write to them in French! I have a script that students can follow or they are welcome to deviate slightly or even write their own.
A few years ago my class received a letter back from a base chief in Victoria. He mentioned every student and it was such a lovely thing for him to take the time to do. That’s the only time I’ve ever received a reply but that’s not the point. Hopefully a letter from a child will help brighten someone’s day.
*please note: the address in my photos was in previous years. See below for address found on Canada Post’s website
To save on postage, you can put all your letters into one large envelope. They don’t need to be in individual envelopes. Your cards or letters can just be put in the large one. I like to give them an envelope so that the member has something they can open.
WHERE TO SEND:
ANY CANADIAN FORCES MEMBER (or a variation of this phrase)
OP IMPACT
PO BOX 5006 STN FORCES

WHEN TO SEND BY:
If sending holiday mail, my deadline is always the end of November. If you get into December, it’s not guaranteed that it will make it in time for the holidays. Of course, members would love to receive mail anytime so feel free to send it any time of year.
*NOTE: Only cards and letters are accepted. No parcels will be accepted.
Peace postcards - Veterans
You can also write to a veteran. Of course Remembrance Day is a great time for this but we can show our appreciation all year round.
You can order free peace postcards (and other materials for Veteran’s week) HERE.
