Dandelion Puff Watercolour Art Project
This is a beautiful spring project. I saw this project on Art Room Britt’s blog. You can check out the original post here.
Time required:
45-60 min
Materials:
Watercolour paper
Watercolour paint
Paint brush
Water cup
Pencil
Thin tipped Sharpie
Optional - Masking tape
Steps:
Start by drawing your dandelions. It would be a good idea to look at images of some to note the details. You can do it in pencil first, then trace with a thin Sharpie.
You may choose to tape down your sides to prevent the paper from curling. You will end up with a border in this case.
Choose a cool or warm colour palette.
If you’re using watercolour paper that can handle the water put on it, you an apply a wet on wet technique by spreading clean water around the page, and then dabbing on colour to allow it to spread around. Make sure to leave a white space around each puff and seed flying in the air to make it look white and fluffy.
Leave to dry.
NOTE: If you don’t have watercolour paper, you could draw a ring around the puffs with a white crayon or oil pastel and use regular paint. It won’t have the same effect as the bleeding watercolour but will still turn out beautifully.
